Chair of Surgery at Duly Health and Care and Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at UChicago AdventHealth LaGrange Hospital, Dr. Jihad Kudsi, MD, MBA, MSF, is a dual board-certified bariatric surgeon in General Surgery and Obesity Medicine, with fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Kudsi is a nationally recognized leader dedicated to transforming lives through weight loss, metabolic health, and advanced surgical care. He combines clinical excellence with strategic leadership to drive innovation, improve patient outcomes, and expand access to high-quality bariatric services.
His educational journey reflects a commitment to excellence. Dr. Kudsi completed his General Surgery Internship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by his General Surgery Residency at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. In addition to his medical training, he holds both an MBA and a Master of Science in Finance from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, bringing a unique blend of clinical and business expertise to healthcare leadership.
Dr. Kudsi is dual board-certified in General Surgery and Obesity Medicine, a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). His approach to care is centered on compassion, precision, and patient education, ensuring that every individual receives personalized treatment tailored to their goals and long-term success.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Kudsi is deeply engaged in education and thought leadership. He is the author of the “Weight Loss for Life” course and the book “Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery Unleashed: Your Witty Q&A Guide to Slimming Success.” He also serves as an Affiliate Clinical Assistant Professor at Midwestern University and is a spokesperson for The Obesity Society (TOS).
